Jewel of nature - Green River in Neretva Valley
The Neretva Delta is the place you dream about, an area of unique beauty and diversity, where the river, sea, forests, marshes and fertile fields meet. An untouched part of nature where you will feel the call of the wild, but also meet a hospitable host. Driving through the narrow channels and backwaters of the Neretva in a traditional Neretva boat is a unique experience that gives you a feeling of nirvana.
The Neretva boat meant life. People were born, married and died in that boat, and today it is a pride and an indelible trace of tradition that delights every dear visitor of the Neretva valley again and again. The boat will be steered by the host who will show you how to catch fish and grow citrus fruits as symbols of the Neretva (mandarins, watermelons, figs, grapes… He will tell you little secrets about far-known Neretva delicacies, toast with a bottle of Neretva wine and, of course, sing).
In the perfect labyrinth of Neretva canals decorated with beautiful water lilies, the habitats of unique specimens of birds masked by sedges and reeds and finally, the secret of the lost sunken city of Narona, concealed, and at times revealed, by the bed of the river Norin, the right tributary of the Neretva, are hidden.
You will be delighted to visit the Archaeological Museum in the ancient town of Narona, today’s Vid, where about 900 finds (statues, ceramics , jewelry, glass, money…) are on display , dating from the end of the 3rd century BC. until the 15th century AD. We are happy that you will visit the natural history museum with ornithological collections in the town of Metković, and later take a walk and drive through nature reserves and habitats.
You will take a ride in old boats and go to an island where you will have a good time with traditional local specialties.
At the end of our trip, we can go to the delta itself and if you want to swim on the sandy beach, walk along the banks and experience one of the most beautiful sunsets.
