Imota Lakes
Imotski is also rich in cultural and historical heritage that can be seen in its well-preserved fortresses and churches.
Along the Crveno jezero in the Imotski region (the deepest karst lake in Europe and one of the five deepest karst lakes in the world), there are numerous legends about fairies, werewolves and witches who live in the mouth of the lake and which the inhabitants allegedly met and saw. But one of the most famous legends about the very origin of the lake is the story of Gavan and his courts. By humiliating and ridiculing the hungry poor in a very cruel way, Gavan, his wife, children and courtiers provoked the wrath of the angels. The courts disappeared into the pit of the abyss, burnt and submerged, and their location turned into lakes.
Fill all your senses by floating and enjoying kayaking down the Vrljika river in beautiful nature.
After visiting the town of Imotski and the Blue and Red Lakes, we continue to the family farm “Podrumi Šimunović” where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting and, with a welcome aperitif, the host will show you the cellars where you will later have the opportunity to enjoy tasting top quality wines with homemade prosciutto, cheese, pancetta and bread. After a tour of the cellar, enjoy a traditional homemade pie (potatoes, veal and salad).
